What a visit covers
What we teach at home in Queens
Queens is big, and getting a parent to one more appointment can take half a day. A teaching visit comes to you instead: one hour at home with a registered nurse, who shows you each step, watches you practice, checks that the home is set up safely and leaves written steps in English or Russian.

Hospitals, rehab centers and nursing homes
When your loved one is in a hospital, rehab center or nursing home in Queens, we can come to the bedside, explain the care plan and the therapy in plain words, and help the family prepare for the day they come home. All care there is given by the facility’s staff.

Questions
Questions from Queens families
Do you come to every part of Queens?
Yes, from Long Island City to Little Neck and down to the Rockaways. If you are not sure whether your street is in our area, call us at 1-877-CARE-303.
What can we learn in one visit?
Usually one or two topics, done well: for example insulin and blood-sugar checks, or dressing changes and the signs of infection. The nurse demonstrates, watches you do it and leaves written steps. Longer routines, like a feeding pump or tracheostomy care, may need a second visit.
Can you help us make the home safer after a fall?
Yes. The nurse walks through the home with you, points out fall risks room by room, shows safe ways to get up from a bed or chair and to use a walker or cane, and explains which equipment is worth asking the doctor about.
Can the nurse visit my parent while I’m at work?
Yes. With your parent’s permission, the nurse visits, sees how they are managing and sends you a written report by email with practical next steps. You can join by phone or video during the visit.
Other areas we serve
Our nurses teach — they do not provide hands-on nursing care, and they do not replace your doctor, home health agency, facility staff or aide. We teach the care your physician or nurse practitioner ordered. We are not a licensed home care services agency or a Medicare-certified home health agency, and we do not employ or place home health aides. In an emergency, call 911.
